#10 Card Making for Beginners - Heat Embossing

Hi everyone,
Welcome to Week 10 of our Card Making for Beginners series. I do hope you have been enjoying these blog posts and videos and that, if you are a beginner, you are finding them useful and helpful.
Today we are talking about a technique which will really add something special to your projects and add a bit of "wow". The technique is heat embossing - a way to achieve shiny, raised stamped images on your cards. See it in this sample :-

What will I need for heat embossing?

The tools/products you will need for this technique are:
  • Stamps
  • Versamark ink pad (or other pigment ink stamp pad)
  • Embossing powder
  • Heat gun
Optional extras, to help ensure you get really clean, clear images are:
  • Anti-static bag
  • Small paintbrush
Stampin' Up! supplies four colours of embossing powder - silver...

Gold....

White... (beautiful on dark coloured card stock):-

And finally, clear, which can be used along with Versamark and any of our stamp pads to produce embossed images in any colour you want!

The basic steps for heat embossing are as follows:
  • Rub your anti static bag over the card stock
  • Ink your stamp with Versamark clear ink (or a slow drying pigment ink)
  • Stamp on your card stock
  • Add embossing powder all over the stamped image
  • Heat the powder with the heat gun, taking care not to over heat.
You can see it in action in today's video. To watch just CLICK HERE or on the image below:

What do you think? Will you be giving it a go? I hope so!

Happy crafting!
