Hi there,
Welcome to lesson number 8 in my Card Making for Beginners series. Today we are going to take a look at the various different stamp pads offered by Stampin' Up! along with their respective inks - which ones should we use for what etc. If you a beginner or even a more experienced paper crafter, I hope you will find some of this information useful. Of course I have made a video where I explain the facts about each type of stamp pad and what it can be used for which you can watch by CLICKING HERE or on the image below.
In the video I talk about the many different stamp pads and inks we offer, beginning with our Classic Stamp Pads.
These stamp pads are available in nearly every colour in the Stampin' Up! colour families - normally 50. At the moment that number is only 49 as there was a production problem with one of the colours - Purple Posy - and Stampin' Up! withdrew it from sale rather than selling an inferior product. The advantage of these stamp pads is that the colours coordinate perfectly with everything else in our range - card stock, DSP, embellishments, ribbons etc which makes it super easy. Available individually or in Colour Family packs (save 10%), they are not cheap (£7 each) but they are the highest quality stamp pads I have come across and have an ingenious design which means that when stored the pad is upside down to keep the ink on the surface. Learn more about them on the video. Re-inkers are available in every colour too so you don't have to worry about stamp pads drying out (although they will take a long, long time to do that anyway!) On the video I show you how I re-ink my pads, so take a look at that.
If you are just starting out, instead of buying our Classic Stamp Pads, a cost effective way to build up your collection of colours is to buy instead the collection of Stampin' Spots. They are available in a pack of 8 in the colours shown above.
And another way of building up more colours is to buy our Un-inked Stampin' Spots and ink them yourself with the re-inkers.
One of the most useful stamp pads to have, and I would say, a must have is the Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad. Great to have a really good black ink which gives fabulous clear and detailed images. Again a re-inker is available. This is the pad to use when colouring with our Stampin' Blends - more about those in a future episode.
An alternative is the Staz On Jet Black stamp pad which is permanent ink. This is great if you are intending to water colour your images as it will not bleed. But it needs careful handling and is likely to stain your stamps. A special cleaner is available.
Here is another "must have" - in my opinion. Versamark is a clear, sticky ink which is great for heat embossing and producing watermark effects.
Lastly, on the video, I show you our Whisper White Craft Pad. As I said, this is not a pad I use very often but if you want to stamp white on darker, coloured card this is what you need.
As I said, lots more information on the video so do take a peek if you have time. Or drop me a message if you have any questions or I can help at all?
