Welcome to Week 11 of my Card Making for Beginners series. Today we are looking at all the different types of adhesive. Not the most exciting of subjects but it is really important to get your choices right in order to ensure your cards look the best that they can.
Unbelievably, there are 13 different items listed on page 162 of the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue under the heading of Adhesives. Do you need them all? Definitely not!!
Of course I have a video on this subject, which goes through all the different products and which ones you might like to consider. You can watch by CLICKING HERE or on the image below.
Essentially there are four adhesives which I highly recommend to all beginners. The first is our Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
A good quality liquid glue - PVA or similar - is an absolute must in my opinion. But beware of cheap versions which can be very watery and will bend and buckle your card stock unless used extremely cautiously. Our Liquid Glue is perfect and as with all liquid glues, has the added advantage of allowing you some "wiggle room" if you don't place your layer down perfectly the first time. When I am creating I keep my upturned bottle without the lid in a small jar with some damp cottonwool at the bottom which ensures the glue is always at the tip but that the tip won't dry up and clog.
The second of my "essentials" is Dimensionals. We now have these in two sizes and two colours (white and black). They are great for adding some dimension to your projects and I would not want to be without them.
And then we come to Tear and Tape - strong double sided tape which doesn't require scissors. I mostly use mine for sticking ribbon and occasionally when making boxes etc.
And the last adhesive I would recommend as a "must have" are Mini Glue Dots. Great for adhering bows and embellishments.
If you'd like to know about my thoughts about the other adhesive products in the catalogue, please watch the video. I have listed them all below with links to the catalogue so that you can easily take a closer look if you'd like to.
Thanks so much for joining me today. If there are any topics or techniques you would like to see me feature in this series of Card Making for Beginners, please get in touch and suggest them.
And just before I go, don't forget to take a look at my updated Buy One Get One Free sale HERE. I've been adding more items to it so you may just be able to pick up a bargain!
Back later with a Christmas project and video tutorial - please pop back to see that. Til then, have fun!
